Steven Gooden

Chairman

Steven Gooden leads NCB’s wealth, asset management and investment banking arm and has oversight of the Group’s operations in Cayman and Trinidad & Tobago. His strategic focus is to drive product penetration throughout the enterprise and to expand the company’s footprint across the region.

He rejoined the company in 2009 as Vice President of Investments & Trading and had responsibility for over US$2 billion worth of assets spanning the Group’s wealth management, life insurance, pension fund management and offshore business lines. With eight years experience at the executive management level, his background includes securities trading, institutional funds management, structured products, corporate finance, research and mergers & acquisitions. He has won several local awards in the areas of research and investment management.

Steven is a holder of the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation, has a Master’s degree in Finance and Economics and a Bachelor's degree in Economics and Accounting. He has participated in Executive Development courses at Chicago Booth and Wharton Business schools covering strategy, change leadership and mergers & acquisitions.

Steven is a director of NCB Capital Markets Ltd, NCB Capital Markets (Cayman) Ltd, NCB (Cayman) Ltd, NCB Global Finance Ltd, Elite Diagnostic Ltd and the Jamaica Stock Exchange Ltd, and serves as Treasurer of the Jamaica Securities Dealers Association and the Wolmer's Old Boys Association.

Samantha Gooden

Samantha Gooden

Samantha Gooden is the current Director of Brand and Advertising with LIME, Cable and Wireless Communications Company, Barbados, having assumed the post in March 2014. Ms. Gooden is a communications and brand specialist with 13 years in the industry.  She began her communications career in media, and went on to work with OGM Integrated Ltd. as Senior Copywriter and Producer, where she wrote and produced campaigns for major brands like Digicel, Jamaica Broilers and KFC.  Thereafter, Ms. Gooden represented OGM in its regional expansion as Creative Director and General Manager in Trinidad and St. Lucia respectively, concluding her employment with the company as Client Service Director in Trinidad. Ms. Gooden later joined LIME Communications as Regional Head of Brand Management and Marketing in Barbados before assuming her current role. In addition to her present position at LIME, she consults as Director with Scotch Bonnet Ltd. focusing on brand development and brand strategy.

Samantha is a qualified Medical Technologist and worked briefly in the field. She has also lectured part-time. She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Medical Technology from the Northern Caribbean University, Jamaica and an EMBA in Marketing/Strategy from the Arthur Lok Jack Graduate School of Business.

Ms. Gooden has special interests in economic empowerment, human rights, and science and technology among others.  

Dave Garcia

Company Secretary

Mr Garcia is responsible for providing the Bank and its subsidiaries with general advice, leadership and direction on all legal, regulatory, compliance and corporate secretarial matters. He is charged with overseeing the operations of the Organization’s Legal & Compliance Division and guiding the Group’s legal strategy in its drive towards becoming the most dominant financial institution in the region. His role also encompasses interaction and communication with external counsel acting on behalf of the NCB enterprise.

A former partner at Myers, Fletcher & Gordon (MF&G), Mr Garcia possesses a wealth of experience in civil litigation with an emphasis on banking, employment and industrial relations, corporate and commercial matters. He is Chairman of Youth Reaching Youth, a charitable organization and Co-Chairperson of the Jamaica Bankers Association’s Compliance Committee. He is also a member of the Jamaica Bar Association’s Commercial Law Committee, and has previously served as its Convenor.

He became an attorney-at-law in 1997 and is a graduate of the Osgoode Hall Law School, York University, having obtained a Master of Laws Degree for studies in Corporate Law. Before that, he was awarded a Bachelor of Laws Degree from the University of the West Indies and a Legal Education Certificate from the Norman Manley Law School.

Mr Garcia has been the recipient of several scholarships and awards, including the Jamaica Scholarship and the Carreras Post-Graduate Scholarship. He continues to contribute to the development of legal education in Jamaica, primarily as a Course Director at the Norman Manley Law School.

Angus Young

Chief Executive Officer

Mr. Young joins the NCB Group with a wealth of experience in the regional financial services market. Previous to his appointment at NCB Global Finance, he was Managing Director of BDO Financial Advisory Services Ltd, which represents BDO’s corporate finance and transaction advisory interest in Trinidad & Tobago.

Before joining BDO, Angus was Vice President of Business Development at First Global (Trinidad and Tobago) Ltd. where he was charged with the responsibility of Corporate Finance and Capital Market origination in T&T and Jamaica.  Prior to FGTT, Angus spent four years at RBTT Merchant Bank Ltd. in leadership roles including Assistant Vice President and Regional Manager of Capital Market Origination where he covered the OECS territories and Guyana.

In the past, Angus has served as a Director of the Securities Dealers Association of Trinidad and Tobago.

Mr. Young holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Administrative and Commercial Studies (Financial and Economic Studies) from the University of Western Ontario and a Post Graduate Diploma in Accounting from Wilfrid Laurier University, School of Business and Economics, Ontario.

Angela brings with her more than 40 years’ experience in auditing and business advisory services. A former partner at PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC), she held various top level posts to include Audit & Business Advisory Services Partner. In this capacity she led the audits of companies in a wide cross section of industries comprising insurance, financial, manufacturing, hospitality and retail. Angela’s other PwC postings included Learning and Education Partner; Human Resources Partner and Operations Partner. She later branched out from PwC Trinidad and Tobago to serve at PwC Hong Kong.

An accomplished entrepreneur, Angela founded the Aegis Group of companies over 14 years ago, offering business solutions and advisory services to recruitment services. She is also the Chairman of Eve Anderson Recruitment Limited, recruitment and human resource advisory services. Having built solid confidence with business sector professionals, she has held posts of Non-Executive Director and Chairman for numerous companies. She has additionally served as past president for professional bodies to include the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Trinidad and Tobago (ICATT), the Institute of Chartered Accountants of the Caribbean (ICAC), Trinidad Representative on the International Assembly of Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA), Director of the Trinidad Hotels & Restaurants Association and Head of Advisory Committee for Summit of America and the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) in 2009.

Angela is currently the President of the Trinidad and Tobago Coalition of Service Industries; Chairman, Music Literacy Trust and Chairman Foundation for Social Justice.

Robert Tang Yuk

Director

Mr. Tang Yuk is no stranger to the world of business. He is currently the Managing Director and owner of TYE Manufacturing Co. Ltd. and has occupied several positions in the company since 1991. fluent in English and Spanish, he is a graduate of the Queen's University in Ontario, Canada with a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering. 

Dedicated to social causes, he serves as Director at NourishTT, a special enterprise using technology to end hunger while reducing waste in Trinidad, as well as KIND (Kids In Need of Direction). He also is the Founding Director and Chairman of Sitek (Solar Industry Technologies and "Infinite Potential", a recently established social enterprise dedicated to the development of entrepreneurship in the twin island republic of Trinidad and Tobago.

In previous years,Mr. Tang Yuk has held numerous positions on the board of several companies including President of the Chinese Association (2007-2008), previous director of the Caribbean Business Services Ltd. and Chairman of ExporTT & Caribbean Leasing co. Ltd TT (2014 - 2016) to name a few.

We are glad to have the hardworking and innovative Mr. Robert Tang Yuk as our new Director and anticipate a triumphant tenure.

ARLENE JOYEAU-FLORES – Head - Operations

Arlene Joyeau-Flores joined NCBGF in August 2015 with over 30 years’ professional experience. Prior to joining us Arlene worked at RBC Royal Bank where she held several leadership positions and developed expertise in operations, strategic planning, audit, business process improvement, change management, GL reconciliation and human resource management. She holds a Master’s Degree in Business Administration from the University of the West Indies and her work experience includes Trinidad and Tobago, Aruba, Curacao, and St. Maarten.

ANCIL RAMCHARAN – Finance Manager

Ancil Ramcharan is a qualified accountant and member of the ACCA since 2004. He is currently CFO with NCB Global Finance Limited (NCBGF), having assumed the position in 2011. In this capacity, Mr. Ramcharan oversees the finance department and deals with financial reporting and analysis, and planning and budgeting.  Prior to becoming CFO, Ancil worked as Assistant Accountant from 2006 to 2010 and in financial reporting analysis from 2010 to 2011. Previously, Mr. Ramcharan worked with First Citizens Bank for 10 years in the mortgage department.

JONATHAN CHAN – Head, Treasury and Investments

Mr. Chan is a veteran banker with 24 years  experience. He has had 14 years progressive responsibility in treasury management, bond trading, repurchase agreements and foreign exchange management.

Jonathan has been with NCB Global Finance Limited since 2004 where he has served as Senior Treasury Manager between 2004 and 2007 and as Group Treasurer since 2007.  Previous to joining NCB Global Finance, Mr. Chan worked with RBTT Bank Limited where from 1999 to 2004 he was Manager for  Foreign Exchange Trading and from 1990 to 1999 he worked in retail banking in various positions.

JULIE SOOKRAM - Head  Retail & Business Banking 

Ms. Sookram joined NCB Global Finance Limited in September 2017 with over 10 years experience in the Corporate Banking financial services market. Prior to joining the team at NCB Global Finance Limited, she was Business Banking Manager for the Chaguanas branch at JMMB Bank (T&T) Limited where her successes included increasing target portfolios in both assets and deposits and managing corporate client relationships.

Ms. Sookram holds a Master in Business Administration from Heriot Watt University, London and a Management Degree from the University of the West Indies.

MARLI CREESE - Manager Corporate & Investment Banking

Marli Creese joined NCB Global Finance Limited in December 2016 and currently serves as Manager of the Corporate and Investment Banking Unit for NCBGF. Prior to joining NCBGF, Mr. Creese worked at Citibank (Trinidad and Tobago) Limited where he was a Relationship Manager in the Corporate and Investment Banking division. Before Citi, at the Central Bank of Trinidad and Tobago he was responsible for arranging and auctioning bonds on behalf of Government and State-owned enterprises, prior to which he was an Investment Analyst at TECU Credit Union and Co-operative Society Limited.

Previously, he worked in the Economic Management Division of the Ministry of Finance analysing sovereign financing proposals submitted by local and international banks. He also worked as a licensed stockbroker with a boutique investment management firm in New York before returning in Trinidad in 2009. Mr. Creese holds a Master of Science in Finance from the London Business School and a Bachelor of Arts in International Business from Ramapo College of New Jersey.
